Cardington Yutaka Looked At For Water Discharges 03-31-2008

The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency is investigating Cardington Yutaka Technologies. That investigation included a federal search warrant which led investigators to collect paperwork and samples as well as interview employees.

The investigation comes as a result of complaints by the Village of Cardington that the plant’s industrial wastewater discharges have caused problems at the treatment plant that administers the water for the village.

Yutaka's Manager of Administration Carl Wolf said that couldn’t be as the plant has not discharged water since August and the only drains that would dump water into the system are sealed.

Cardington Yutaka, which makes catalytic and torque converters for Honda, says they now pay to have their wastewater hauled away.

The Ohio Bureau of Criminal Identification and Investigation is assisting the EPA’s criminal enforcement program in the investigation.

Cardington Yutaka is Morrow County’s largest employer.
