President George W. Bush’s economic stimulus plan went into effect Monday morning with the first round of refunds going out by direct deposit.

Taxpayers whose last two digits of their social security number are 0 through 20 should get their direct deposits by Friday. Numbers 21 through 75 should receive their money by May 9th, and numbers 76 through 99 by May 16th.

The rebates came faster than first expected, but the final payouts will not be made until July 11th.

An AP/AOL Poll last week revealed 35% of taxpayers plan to use their rebates to pay bills, up from the 27% who made the same claim around the time the rebate checks were announced.

800,000 people nationwide were included in the first deposits.
