Free Financial Aid Help Offered 05-13-2008

The I CAN Center of Excellence, a regional college access program, in conjunction with The Ohio State University at Marion and the Marion Public Library, will offer an informative session on filing your Free Application For Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), Tuesday, May 13, 7 p.m. at the Marion Public Library.

This event is for high school juniors, graduating seniors, and their parents, as well as adults contemplating higher education in the upcoming year.

The event is a good opportunity for high school juniors to get a jump on the financial aid process. For high school seniors who have not yet completed a FAFSA form for the upcoming academic year, this is a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of potential sources of financial aid that are still available to you.

Adults who are interested in or thinking about furthering education should also file a FAFSA and may consider attending this event.

The earlier the FAFSA is filed during the year of enrollment into college the greater the advantage of receiving various sources of funding. The more students a family has in college the lower the estimated family contribution amount becomes.

Those who wish to file will need information from their 2007 Federal Income Tax Return. Those in attendance will be asked to use estimated income figures to help determine what state & federal funding for college your child will receive next year.

For more information on this event or college access assistance, contact C. Michael Short at the I CAN Center of Excellence at 740-725-6273 or The Ohio State University at Marion Office of Admissions and Financial Aid at 740-725-6242.
