A poll finds that by a 9-point margin, Ohio voters are willing to bet on a southwest Ohio casino that proponents say will create at least 5,000 jobs.
The Columbus Dispatch reports Monday that 50 percent of likely Ohio voters support a ballot measure to allow a $600 million casino resort near Wilmington. Forty-one percent are opposed, and 9 percent are undecided. The newspaper's poll of nearly 2,300 Ohioans likely to vote was conducted Sept. 24-Oct. 3. The margin of sampling error is plus or minus 2 percentage points. Developers say the casino project would mean not only jobs but also income for each of Ohio's 88 counties. But a campaign funded by owners of an Indiana casino argues that the ballot proposal would create a casino monopoly in Ohio. | ||
