Director Greg Patterson and his artistic staff are busy planning for “Babes In Toyland,” the first dinner theatre production to be held in the Palace Theatre's newly constructed pavilion, on December 12, 13, and 14.
Patterson has scheduled auditions for this production, which will feature local and area talent, on Sunday, October 26 from 2:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Monday, October 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Auditions will be held in the Scharer Patron Lounge located on the balcony level in the historic theatre. Participants should enter through the theatre’s front doors.
Those desiring to audition should come with a rehearsed piece of sheet music for their vocal audition. An accompanist will be provided by the theatre. Interested participants should also be prepared to read lines.
Patterson and his team will be seeking a cast including several children ages 8 to 18 and multiple men and women for character parts.
“Babes In Toyland” is an adaptation of the classic operetta by Victor Herbert and Glen Macdonough in two acts.
The story line has a cast of characters including Tom, Tom, the Piper’s Son – the hero; Mary, Mary, Quite Contrary – the heroine; Silas Barnaby – Toyland’s Miser and Villain; Old Mother Hubbard and her numerous children; Bo Peep; Rodrigo; Gonzo; the Toymaker; Grumio; Santa Claus; Simple Simon; Peter, Peter, Pumpkin-Eater; Tommy Tucker; Little Boy Blue; Miss Muffet; Red Riding Hood; Jack & Jill; and others.
