The Ohio State Highway Patrol reported 10 people were killed in six crashes over the holiday weekend in traffic crashes on Ohio roads. That number is the same as those killed during last year for the same reporting period. Five of the six fatal crashes were OVI-related.
Seat belts are known to have been used in one of the ten deaths. Its use is unknown in 7 of the fatalities.
The fatalities were for the holiday weekend reporting period of December 30, 2008 at 6 p.m. through January 4, 2009 at midnight.
The fatal crashes occurred in Jefferson, Montgomery, Licking, Franklin, Seneca, and Knox counties.
