Members of the Marion Modern Woodmen of America camp are sponsoring a fundraiser from now through May 1st to help Hospice of Morrow County.
The project is a raffle to raise money for the Hospice Technology Fund. The winner will select a week at a luxury resort from a long list of locations in the United States, the Bahamas and the Virgin Islands.
“The choice of vacation destinations is extraordinary,” said Karen Veronica, Executive Director of Hospice. “We’re selling a limited number of tickets so each person who enters the raffle has a good chance of winning. Even in these tough economic times I hope people will open their hearts and buy one raffle for Hospice.”
Tickets are on sale until May first at noon. The money raised will be matched by Modern Woodmen’s home office, up to $2,500 through their Matching Fund program. Hospice of Morrow County can then raise enough money by June to take advantage of significant savings by splitting with another hospice the costs of a necessary electronic billing and charting system.
Now when a person buys a raffle ticket for $10 (three tickets for $25), the money will stretch and benefit Hospice four-fold. With Modern Woodmen’s matching gift, for each $10 ticket sold, $20 will be given to Hospice. Further, cost sharing will double the impact of the $20 to the equivalent of $40 that helps Hospice.
The Matching Fund program offers Modern Woodmen members nationwide the chance to show their support of a community cause, organization or individual in need by partnering with community groups and holding fundraisers. These projects contribute more than six million dollars each year to communities nationwide.
Founded in 1883 as a fraternal benefit society Modern Woodmen of America offers financial services and fraternal member benefits to individuals and families throughout the United States. The organization’s Marion office provides a number of volunteer service and social activities for local members.
