Photographs The following photographs are used by permission from the Morrow
County Historical Society. They were taken from the Society's 9th
edition of historical calendar's published in 2001.

C.O.
Wells Creamery The C.O. Wells Creamery was an important business in Edison
before World War I. The creamery collected milk and cream from a
15 to 20 mile area around Edison. The T & OC Railroad's local
trains made many stops on their daily "milk train" runs north
to Climax and Bucyrus and to Mt. Gilead, Fulton, Marengo and points
southeast. This photo was taken in 1909.
Iberia
Post Office Della V. Burt was the Iberia post-mistress in 1908. She
operated the post office in her husband's general store. Burt's
building is now the southwest section of Eileen's Family
Restaurant. This photo was originally taken to show the post
office sign and was sent to a sign salesman by the name of Pace in
Western Pa. Mr. & Mrs. Burt are pictured in front of the

Skit In the late 1920's members of the Mt. Gilead chapter of the
Daughters of the American Revolution developed a series of skits
depicting famous events of colonial American History. members of
the DAR are pictured rehearsing one of their skits at the home of Mrs

Williamsport
Hotel In early Ohio the stage road which ran from Delaware to Mansfield
passed through Williamsport. A hotel was built in the late 1830's
to accommodate travelers. The 1857 Morrow County Map lists William
Hopper as the proprietor, but by 1871 John S. Mitchell had acquired it
and changed the name to the "Mitchell House". It is now
a private residence. The photo is dated June 16, 1909.
Sterritt
and Howard Millinery Shop Margaret Howard and Flora Sterritt were among the last to own a
millinery shop in Mt. Gilead. Mrs. Howard (background) adn Mrs.
Sterrit are pictured in their shop during the 1920's. The shop
currently houses Whetstone Weavers.
Fred
Held - Johnsville Johnsville Barber Fred Held and his horse are featured in this
picture taken by North Woodbury photograpaher Guy Hetrick. Held
operated a barber shop in Johnsville in the early 1900's. Hair
cuts were ten cents and a shave five cents.
Riverside
Daily Riverside Dairy products were a household name in Cardington for
over seventy-five years. Paul Maxwell purchased the farm along the
Whetstone Creek in 1915 and sold milk in the Cardington area from his 12
cow herd. The Maxwells sold the milk business in 1989 and the ice
cream franchise in 1994.
