Agencies We Support

Each year, our selection committee carefully screens the agencies which apply for United Way funding.  

AMERICAN RED CROSS - Mike Vance 
Provides services/information for Emergency Disaster Assistance; Service to Military Personnel and their families; Blood & tissue Donor recruitment and information; Emergency CPR and First Aid Training Water Safety/Lifeguard Training, HIV Aids Training, and Assistance referrals for Morrow Co. Residents.
United Way funds 90% of their budget for training, disasters, etc.

THE CHILDREN'S CONNECTION - Gail Lyall
The Children's Connection is a unique youth service organization based on the warmth of a one to one friendship between an adult volunteer and a child 6-14yrs old from a single parent home. Each volunteer makes a commitment to spend 2-4 hours twice a month for a least a year with a child in need.
They also do a Big & Little Buddy Program in all the 4 school districts in Morrow Co. United Way funds both the traditional and school based program in Morrow Co.

EMERGENCY RESOURCE COUNCIL/FOOD PANTRY
Cathy Grabiel 
Mission is to develop a better understanding of existing community resources. They provide a vast array of services focusing on the Food Pantry, which provides a 3-4 day supply of emergency food to those who are in need. United Way funds taxable items for the food pantry. 

GIRL SCOUTS OF HERITAGE TRAILS COUNCIL, INC.
Mary Ann Forbes 
To inspire girls with the highest ideals of character, conduct, patriotism, a service that they may become happy and resourceful citizen. Day camping, recruitment and placement of Volunteers. United Way funds programs for the Morrow County chapter. 

HEART OF OHIO BOY SCOUT COUNCIL - Peter Finemoro 
Quality council service to packs and troops, new member recruitment, volunteer leader training, summer camp, day camp, Scouting for Food Drive and a conducted trip to the National Boy Scout Jamboree. United Way funds programs for the Morrow County Chapter. 

HELPLINE, INC. - Sue Hanson 
Provides Telephone 24 hour information, referrals by dialing 2-1-1 and crisis management services at the regular phone# both 7 days a week. Maintains up to date, comprehensive database of community services and provides sexual assault support, and prevention education. United Way funds the information/referral manual, helps with 211, and the sexual assault program. 

MORROW COUNTY SERVICES FOR OLDER CITIZENS, INC. - 
(SENIORS ON CENTER )

To provide services to keep Senior Citizens independent and living alt home as long as possible. Congregate Meals, Home Delivered Meals, Transportation, homemaker information and referral, HEAP, Ohio Energy , Gold Buckeye Card, Commodities, Legal Aid, Social/Recreation and transportation for Wheel Chair bound of ALL ages. United Way funds transportation for the delivered meals and congregate meals.

RECOVERY & PREVENTION RESOURCES OF DELAWARE & MORROW CO.'S - (formerly MCCAD) -Tony Williams/Janet Chandler
To provide county residents with the most comprehensive services for intervention, treatment, and prevention of alcohol and other drug abuse and addiction. Provides services for children in schools and the agency as well as high school girls in the GRADS program. Life Skills Workshop, Leadership Retreat, Teen Workshops, Parenting Workshops for recovering Women, Teen Institute. Family and group counseling. United Way funds programs in the schools and transportation. 

THE MARION SHELTER PROGRAM, INC. - Mark Lovett
Provides shelter for the Homeless in Marion, Morrow, and surrounding counties. The shelter housed (4) Morrow County Residents in 2003 and (8) Residents in the first four months of 2004. The shelter provides clothing, shelter, case management and other needed services on an individual basis. The Day Program offers an educationally-oriented computer system called Destinations to help with GED training. The Transitional House is a group home for former Homeless Shelter residents who are no longer in a crisis state but requires longer term assistance before they can be self-sufficient

TURNING POINT - Paula Roller 
Provides shelter, food, clothing, personal supplies; individual and group counseling to both residents of the Shelter and to those victims who are not in need of shelter at the present time; housing Employment and Educational Assistance; Toll Free Crisis line, operated 24 hours, Community Education and Outreach; In-School domestic Violence Prevention Program. United Way funds educational and outreach to those in need.
